In Round 5 against his former team the Brisbane Broncos, Boyd played his 100th career match in the Dragons 34–16 win and was named Man of the Match at WIN Stadium. [30] Boyd finished his successful 2010 NRL season with him playing in 25 matches and scoring 2 tries. Boyd and his wife have also reconciled and are expecting their first child the day after this year's NRL grand final. "Willow was at an age where she was so much more full on than when she was only 6 months old when I miscarried, she was a breezy newborn so in April I was like hell yeah I can have four of these nuggets easy! After all they had been through and how hard he had worked on his mental health and returning to his career, Kayla didn't think twice about attending to support her husband. I’ve had a great career, I have nothing to be disappointed about, I’m really happy with everything I’ve achieved in the rep arena. He later switched clubs to the Mudgeeraba Redbacks. Footy became his saviour. NRL player Darius Boyd’s wife Kayla has revealed how she chose to terminate her pregnancy following an emotional miscarriage earlier in the year. “That was honestly the best thing I’ve ever done. [73] On 4 October 2016, Boyd was selected in the Australian Kangaroos Final 24-man squad for the tournament.
[96][97][98], On 6 March 2020, Boyd announced that he would retire at the end of the 2020 NRL season despite having one year left to run on his contract. [61] Boyd played in all 3 matches and scored a try for Queensland in the 2015 State of Origin series. “The Broncos were also my childhood favourite club, so to be able to play there early on in my career and get back there, it would be pretty special.’’. [76], Before the start of the 2017 season, Boyd joined the likes of Darren Lockyer, Wally Lewis, Allan Langer and Gorden Tallis when he was named the ninth Broncos captain in the club's 30-year history.

An abortion is surely something intensely personal and private. “It was very intense and quite traumatic,” smiles a relieved Kayla, safely back home and tenderly cuddling new arrival Romi Yves Boyd under the watchful gaze of big sister Willow, 4.

She’s doing OK, I know now I can help her out moving forward. My wife’s family is there, some of my really close mates are there too, so there’s definitely a lot of positives.

[39] Boyd played in all three matches of the 2011 State of Origin series in the Maroons 6th consecutive series win. And it’s wonderful to see Willow being a big sister, so nurturing and caring …”, There’s a pause for thought, then Kayla laughs: “Before you ask, the doctors say we need to wait at least 12 months before having another baby, and we’re fine with that. Serenely breastfeeding while Darius waits to burp the baby, Kayla adds. Boyd said he leaves the Knights “with good memories of a great town and great people”, but to move back among close friends and family in Brisbane is an obvious attraction. If you or someone you know is suffering from mental health issues contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 and talk to someone who can help you figure out what steps to take to stay well. “I just hang around positive people and try to be really positive in everything I do and see,” he grins. THE wife of Brisbane Broncos star Darius Boyd has hit back after being labelled a bad mother for leaving her newborn baby home during the NRL grand final on Sunday. On 1 February, Boyd was named in the Broncos' 2016 NRL Auckland Nines squad. “Every time I write something I do think and I worry about how it’s going to be received… but I think surely nothing can be as bad as what I’ve already had to deal with. Boyd returned to the field with the Broncos in early May and six-time premiership-winning coach Bennett — the only coach under whom Boyd has played in the NRL — says he is "an extremely good person" who is "just starting to come out of himself". And that's exactly what I did, work got busier and busier and I had multiple commitments and roles locked in till mid 2017. But Romi was ready and knew what we needed in our lives, I suppose, before we knew. The wife of NRL star Darius Boyd has revealed she is expecting another baby just a year after the traumatic delivery of the couple's second child. Boyd finished the 2008 NRL season with him playing in 24 matches and scoring 13 tries. Strongman Darius, an Australian and Queensland State of Origin representative, freely admits he cried at the outcome.
