He's a first-round pick who has always had a big arm. Comparing him to Bregman is natural but Bregman has remained healthy and consistent (not to mention some trash can help).

This trade alone could disqualify, but it’s not even close to the only horrible decision. Unfortunately for the team that won that bidding war, the Arizona Diamondbacks, it gave way to one of the more lopsided trades in recent memory. The sides had not talked about a long-term contract since March 2013. "I feel he has done some tremendous things with the Braves. The Diamondbacks and Greinke finalized a six-year deal earlier Tuesday that, according to sources, is worth $206 million. In its entirety, the five-player deal sent Miller and relief prospect Gabe Speier to the Diamondbacks, who in turn gave up Ender Inciarte, Dansby Swanson, and Aaron Blair to the Braves. Jenkins was a former top-100 prospect whose stock fell as a result of missing much of the 2012 and 2013 seasons due to shoulder injuries. But a source told ESPN's Jerry Crasnick that Arizona's interest in Leake effectively ended with the Diamondbacks' acquisition of Miller. • Free Agent Tracker: Stay up to date with the latest signings around MLB. a foolish or stupid person. ". This was a crazy and really interesting trade.

"Miller seemed to right himself down the stretch, producing a 1.65 ERA and limiting opponents to a .185 batting average in his final six regular season starts. Miller was his own worst enemy, both on and off the field, after arriving in AZ. It will be interesting to see if he continues that  approach in St. Louis or if Cardinals hitting coach John Mabry will try to help him rediscover his power potential. Ostensibly healthy in 2012, he hit .269/.335/.479 with 27 home runs and 21 steals at the still-tender age of 22, but in '13 he lost three weeks to appendicitis and nearly had his season ended by a pitch to the face in late August. "I didn't know what to expect, but going over there [to Atlanta], it's been great," Miller said. Believe me, they're very highly regarded players, but three players do not make our future.''.

Swanson was heralded as the shortstop of the future for Atlanta, which had just recently shipped Andrelton Simmons to the Angels. A defining trade for Arizona and not in a good way. "This is another young pitcher who is going to have a chance to successfully pitch in a Major League rotation a year or two from now," Hart said. With the oft-injured Walden set to earn a raise via arbitration this year, there was an assumption the Braves would move him. The Braves were coming off a 79-win season with little chance of doing much better in 2015. This was a fascinating trade when it went down. Fans were very upset the Mets took on what they did of the Cano contract AND ALSO gave up Kelenic.

(1:14). He's in the prime of his career. Peralta, Pollock, and Inciarte were 27, 27, and 24. that setup should’ve been set-it and forget-it. The Cardinals got what might be the best season of Heyward’s career. Jordan Walden made 12 appearances for the Cardinals in 2015 and was lights out, giving up a total of only one run. Miller had pitched more or less the equivalent of two full seasons, and had shown himself to be a solid mid-rotation starter with some upside. If Diaz produces. People forget, or have no idea, that the Dbacks traded Inciarte because they had another CF named A.J. He is currently with the Brewers on a minor league deal. They fired Dave Stewart too early, the team he put together went to the playoffs after he was fired one year before his contract was up,,, the team he put together in two years went to the playoffs the third year, he deserves credit,,, Most of the players on that team were drafted or acquired before Stewart become GM.
They got less than nothing. Jason Heyward was coming off yet another season where his bat disappointed but his elite defense more than made up for it. They got Dansby Swanson and Ender Inciarte in exchange for three years of a solid but unremarkable pitcher. You obviously missed the reference. Heyward will be a free agent next fall, and St. Louis will have to pay $8.3 million for that single year per the arbitration-avoiding two-year deal he signed with Atlanta in February. The team’s 100 wins was the best in the majors, but as is always the case, none of that matters come the playoffs. Andrus, Tulowitzki among nine-figure players who could be traded. Yes, it was a horrible trade on the D-Backs end, a definite fleecing by the Braves, no spin doctor can save this one. But almost as bad was the fact they broke up one of the best young outfields in BB. "With the assumption that another club would be willing to provide the $100-million-plus deal Heyward hopes to gain as a free agent next year, the Braves opted to use the 26-year-old outfielder to address their scarcity of starting pitching depth at both the Major League and Minor League levels. Indeed, Heyward’s contact rate has increased over the last three seasons from a career-low of 73 percent in 2012.
