Outside of his rookie year he's never really had a bad season, and he did make three All-Star appearances in a row. • [Tied for 1st] Most Touchdowns Receiving, Season – 17 (1995)

With the exception of "player" in the title of the article, Scott Rolen easily has the highest WAR of anyone on the list—seven All-Star appearances show that he can play.
Skip Schumaker’s run-scoring double in the first inning pushed the Cardinals in front 1-0, which turned out to be the final score. His ERA of 4.25 is much too high for the Hall, though, and a guy who plays that long and only has one All-Star appearance clearly has not been elite. Seniors 55+: $4 He was also an All-Star and finished eighth in the MVP vote.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but Lincecum's star is fading fast. For Carpenter, it was always about doing what was right for the game. He was simply a good closer, and that's all. • [Tied for 2nd] Most Touchdowns, Season – 17 (1995)
Still, does he have the overall numbers? By subscribing, you are agreeing to Yahoo's Terms and Privacy Policy, Tomase: What history tells us about Sale's recovery timetable originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston.
Mark McGwire was one of the key figures who got baseball past the 1994 strike and into the steroid era. His other numbers are very nice, but having to play behind Albert Pujols didn't help much. He let his game do his talking while he rode off into the sunset, ready to spend more time with his son, Sam, and daughter, Ava. Still, does he have the overall numbers? Carpenter was drafted by the Blue Jays in 1993 and made his debut with the team four years later.
By the time he retired following the 2002 NFL season, Carter had scored 130 touchdowns which ranked second most in NFL history. You could definitely see the bite mark on his (butt), but he was able to fight it off; amazing. Pass Receiving Titles: 1994, NFC Statistical Championships
Certainly a guy hitting over 400 home runs could have done better than an average around .280. He's fighting back this year, but even with some great seasons and 275 saves, I don't see him making the Hall since his track record as a great closer just hasn't been long enough.
Unlike players such as Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa, who basically hit a lot of home runs, Rafael Palmeiro was a great hitter in general and one of a handful to have 500 home runs and 3,000 hits. He fell apart after that, and nearing 40, he's got a 167-120 record and a career ERA over four.
While the average return takes a year and a half, 25 of the 56 pitchers on this list retook a big league mound within 15 months.
Which means he gets really excited …. Among many fans’ favorites is his yeoman’s effort in the deciding Game 5 of the National League Division Series in October 2011. In sports, you can measure an athlete’s height, weight and the speed of his fastball.
1998 NFC – Atlanta Falcons 30, Minnesota Vikings 27
While he does have an All-Star appearance and his power numbers are good, his .254 average is far from Hall of Fame quality, and he's just reaching the 1,000-hit mark now in his 30s. It's tough to say never given what could change in the years to come, but in this current environment, A-Rod and the rest under a cloud don't have a shot.
On May 20, he beat the Cubs, 2-1, raising his winning percentage with the club to .726 (53-20), highest ever by a Cardinal through his first 100 starts. Enshrined into Pro Football Hall of Fame: August 3, 2013
If he can push his win total to 200 while keeping his losses at a minimum, then there's a very small chance he makes it in, but I still don't see it happening. Unless he plays elsewhere and remains elite, he's not making it in.
Another best-case scenario is Tim Hudson.
Children 6–15: $3 A good place to start is Tommy John himself. The problem is, there's a difference between returning to the big leagues and regaining Cy Young form, and one is a lot easier than the other, as The Boston Globe's Alex Speier noted in a similar exercise. He could come back and be more than serviceable, but he's not going to be a perennial All-Star again, and that kills his Hall chances. If history is any guide, a more realistic scenario has Sale returning to form in 2022 -- if at all.
According to an invaluable database maintained by Jon Roegele, 67 pitchers between the ages of 30 and 32 underwent Tommy John between 1974 (Tommy John himself) and 2018 (Johnny Cueto). The Baseball Hall of Fame has made it clear that they don't want to let those under the steroid cloud in; one only has to look at Mark McGwire and Rafael Palmeiro's numbers. You can't put a position player in the Hall who rarely played every day.
was in the water bottle he was drinking every single day. Jason Giambi is, perhaps surprisingly, still an active player. Josh Beckett, when he's on, is one of the best pitchers in the game.
The rest of his seasons have ranged from great to good to just flat-out bad, namely last year with Atlanta. The two-time Cy Young winner looked like he was on the fast track for the Hall of Fame, but he can't seem to keep batters from lighting it up on him. © 2020 Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
Carter started the game at wide receiver. While he had great stuff, he never seemed to get it going for long periods of time, and a losing record with 225 saves in 11 years shows that. The Rangers would gladly have several of him, but it doesn't mean he's a Hall of Fame candidate. Well, between his first peak and recent surge he had a few average seasons, and while 2,100 hits and over 400 home runs are very nice numbers, it's going to take three or four career years to get people talking, and I don't think he has enough left in the tank for that.
• [Tied for 1st] Most Seasons Leading Team, Receiving Yards – 5 (1991-1995)
He's fun to watch, but he'll be lucky if he gets a vote for Hall induction. He set career bests in ERA (2.83), strikeouts (213), innings pitched (241.7), complete games (7) and shutouts (4) while amassing a 21-5 record with a 2.83 ERA for the Division Champion Cardinals and was selected as the NL’s Cy Young Award winner. • [3rd] Most Receiving Yards, Career – 335
His ERA of 3.24 isn't great for a closer; even one sub-2.00 ERA season where he pitched 50 games would have been nice to see. Bobby Abreu is one of the many who put up very good power numbers in the midst of the steroid era, hurting his Hall chances. However, in 2007, Carpenter pitched only one game.
