The Strategic Plan for the Town of East Gwillimbury is Council’s vision for the future direction of the Corporation. As elected officials of the Town of East Gwillimbury, our role is to ensure that the needs of residents and businesses are met in an effective and efficient manner. The Town of East Gwillimbury '. Based on the extensive public outreach, the Green Lane Secondary Plan is set to deliver a sustainable, pedestrian-friendly neighbourhood.

Key aspects are two mixed use nodes, pedestrian oriented retail areas, office priority areas, and mixed-use and office requirements in phased development of the mixed-use nodes. Our study teams worked collaboratively throughout the process to deliver a Secondary Plan and MESP. The Plan’s approximately 600 hectares is envisioned as a gateway and focal point for the Town, developed as an urban, mixed-use community with mixed use nodes along Yonge Street and at the 2nd Concession go Station.

SGL was retained by the Town of East Gwillimbury to develop land use options and a policy framework for the Green Lane Secondary Plan area. Each of these priorities becomes an important puzzle piece and complements one another to guide us along the path of creating a strong, vibrant community. Below is the staff presentation for the 2019 year in review.

One of the first major tasks we undertook as a Council this term was to develop the Strategic Plan, to guide our decisions and actions over the term. The presentation outlines the major projects and accomplishments of the first year of this Term of Council.

As with the initial versions of the Town Strategic Plan, the new pillars outlined in the Strategic Plan will provide guidance to Town programs and services. It sets the stage as the foundation to guide decisions, projects, and initiatives to be  undertaken during the four-year term.

As we move through this term, we will conduct annual Community Reports to ensure we are on track and share with you the progress we are making. Annual - In order to ensure the Strategic Plan is successfully implemented, staff will integrate the strategic priorities into the Annual Business Plan and Budgets. The Town of East Gwillimbury Highway 404 Employment Corridor Secondary Plan, which outlines the land use, urban design guidelines and proposed future road infrastructure for this area, was recently adopted by council.
